A box costs $1000 to fill, ship, and deliver, and will support a medium-sized family. In it are a tent, blankets, a stove, light sources, a water purifier, pots and pans, and other necessities adjusted for the nature and location of the disaster. Thousands of boxes are sent out every year, and ShelterBox has had people on the ground at just about every disaster since about 2005.
We hope to host a similar event on campus this spring, to bring awareness to our student body. Thanks to everyone who helped out! For more information on ShelterBox, see the ShelterBox website.
